VICTORIA SCHOOL : 134th Speech Day
Friday, 16 July 2010

My phone has failed me once again... or perhaps I was too near to the hall speakers. The sound in my videos end up to be damn muffled. But Speech Day was awesome. ESPECIALLY THE ENDING. Victorian Anthem and the cheers. YES. IT'S A GREAT FEELING TO BE BACK AT VICTORIA SCHOOL, seeing Victorians put up an awesome performance.

Near-perfect synchro NCC FSD performance. (Y) Anyway you can't see this very well in the video - they're wearing cool black shades. Haha.

IT Club finally won a Speech Day Award. This is the first that I've heard of, and the first that I've witnessed. OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2010.

Ziyad's valediction was really moving. 'We do not return to your mother, because we never really left' - what a classic Victorian verse to quote. They couldn't have chosen a more appropriate valedictorian for 134th. He's a perfect example of a true blue Gentleman, Professional, Sportsman. GREAT ENDING. Many of us were overcome by emotion after hearing it. Awesome speech, Ziyad! :D

(Sorry for the unclear sound! I'm trying to find a clear version zz.)

It was here in Victoria School that we forged bonds that can never be broken and memories that can never be erased.

It was here in Victoria School that we faced heartbreak and triumph, but never did we have to face it alone.

It was here in Victoria School that we found brothers, true blood brothers, who have stuck with us throughout our growing years and will stick with us for life.

Above all, it was here in Victoria School that we had what was, and will always be, the very best years of our lives.

The faces appear each year
Along the corridors to labour, love,
Learn, They too will know
That here our better youth was spent,
That what we are was seeded then.

We do not return to you, mother,
Because we never really left.

Thank you very much, and Nil Sine Labore.

Today was so, so memorable. :)

Back to our now-134-year-old Alma mater, with the same old guys and the same old teachers, recalling the same old memories and stories, and cracking the same old jokes.

Feeling that same old way that we did from 2006-2009.

I haven't felt this way in ages. And I know I'm not alone on this one.

I didn't expect to be so overcome by emotion, but I was. Many of us were. It couldn't have felt more perfect. :) :)

Today was just.. Brilliant.

The traditional end to every Victorian event - THE VICTORIAN ANTHEM BY THE BAND. Damn it. It's been ages since I've sung the Victorian Anthem. It's been ages since I've cheered. Damn it, this is no doubt/definitely/sumpah the best song in the universe. And so here's my horrible attempt in capturing that moment. Phone dropped halfway through VS Spelling Cheer and the recording stopped. The implosion was too great till I lost grip @@ NEVERTHELESS IT WAS THE BOMB. Pardon my horrendous voice at the beginning. HAHA.

Victoria is something more; the school that watch'd us grow.
Victoria thy sons are we and we will not forget.
VIVA LA VICTORIA xD

I'm still just another outsider. I'm still just another hi-bye.
